A picture created by Valentin Serov was brought from Vologda. The artist called it "Fox Carpet." The Ivanovo Museum brought to the exhibition several works written by Konstantin Korovin. Korovin is one of the prominent representatives of the Russian impressionists. He was able to gain looseness and courage before many painters, creating dynamic compositions made in a rich color palette.

The origin of the term "impressionism", which is translated from French as "impression", refers to the work of the artist Claude Monet. His painting entitled “Impression. Sunrise ”represented this artistic direction.

Impressionists believed that each of the artists sees the world around them individually, in their own way. Therefore, the same nature, reproduced by different painters, may look different. This was the goal of artists working in this direction - to convey individual impressions on the canvases.

Impressionists left their workshops, went out into the countryside. Having learned to convey the play of light and color with the help of colorful brush strokes, painters began to create canvases filled with natural colorful tones and natural light.
